Training & Support

One Day Training

Community Walk Leaders will attend a one day training course to develop their ability to lead walks in lowland countryside.  The main aim of the training is to give the Community Walk Leaders (CWLs) the confidence to lead a group as well as improve their skills. 

The course will cover the basic walk knowledge and techniques required to lead walks including:

  • Setting Up a Walking group
  • Group Management
  • Understanding Maps
  • Planning a Walk
  • Equipment
  • Weather
  • Getting Lost & Emergencies

Successful participants will receive a manual with all the relevant information covered on the course as well as a certificate of attendance.

 

Modules

To supplement the one day training, modules will be delivered to help leaders progress further. These will include:

  • First Aid
  • Further navigation and improving walking skills
  • Creating inspiring walks
  • Where to walk in your area
