Crossing some the most scenic upland areas in the Antrim Glens, this route offers fantastic views that encompass much of Northern Ireland, as well as extending across the sea to Scotland. Despite being signed throughout, the open terrain means you should take all the normal precautions associated with mountain walking.

Route Description
This section is that last section of the IAT in Ireland, linking the quaint coastal village of Glenarm, across the open hillside of the Antrim Hills, leading down to the coast and the port town of Larne.
The route is waymarked from Glenarm to Linford using Ulster Way signage (yellow arrow on blue background) as well as the IAT Ireland~Ulster marker. From Linford to Larne Town, is currently not waymarked, you should use the route description and downloadable maps to navigate this section.
Please be aware that this walking route passes through areas of open land such as working farmland. Livestock may be present and ground conditions may be uneven or wet underfoot. Please refer to the ‘Walk Safely and Responsibly’ information in the Useful Info tab above.
Getting to the Start (by Public Transport)
Glenarm can be accessed via Ulsterbus Service 162 from Larne. Larne is well serviced by bus from both Belfast and Antrim.
Glenarm is well serviced by the Antrim Coaster Bus Service 252 which runs from Belfast to Coleraine.

Getting to the Start (by Car)
Glenarm is situated along the A2 coast road north of Larne.
Facilities
Refreshments and accommodation are available along the route in Glenarm, Ballygalley and Larne. However this is a long route with no refreshment stops or accommodation between Glenarm and Linford – walkers should carry provisions accordingly.
