
Dundrum to Newcastle Walk
This route takes in the stunning scenery of Dundrum Bay from the vantage point at Dundrum Castle to the 6000 year old sand dune system at Murlough Beach and finally on to the bustling seaside resort of Newcastle.

Route Description
Leaving the car park, turn left and head towards Main Street in the direction of Newcastle. Take the first right onto the Manse Road. Continue straight up the hill and take the first right on to the Castle Hill Road.
Follow this road until reaching the ruins of Dundrum Castle and car park on your right. Take the public right of way which runs to the left of the Castle and continue straight along the path until you reach the end at the Dromara Road.
Turn left on to the Dromara Road and take the first right onto Moneylane Road and then first left onto a public right of way. Follow the path along a sweeping left hand bend and further along passing a dam on the right.
At the next junction with another path keep right until you reach the Main Street again. Turn right onto Main Street for a short distance and then turn left onto Keel Point. Once over the Downshire Bridge, at the next junction, take the right hand path which runs adjacent to Dundrum Inner Bay. At the next junction, close to the main Dundrum-Newcastle Road, take a left turn and follow the boardwalk down onto Murlough Beach.
Turn right along the beach heading towards Newcastle, passing the Slieve Donard Hotel on the right. At the first car park join the promenade to the finish at the Tourist Information Office.
